Volunteer Recognition

April marks National Volunteer Recognition Month throughout the VA system.  Because of the valuable assistance volunteers provide and the understanding that volunteers play a critical role in fulfilling the SAVAHCS mission to serve our Veterans, we take time out to honor our volunteers each year. At a special recognition event SAVAHCS presents awards for Male, Female, and Youth Volunteer of the Year.

The President Lifetime Award is presented to all SAVAHCS volunteers who have served 4,000 hours or more.  This prestigious award was borne out of President Bush's call for all American to donat 4,000 hours of community service over the course of their lifetime.  The President Lifetime Award is the prestigious volunteer award currently connected to the White House that all Americans can aspire to achieve.  A special pin honors those individuals who have achieved this milestone of service to their community and country.
