SAVAHCS Hosts Memorial Day Ceremony - Tucson, AZ – The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) will be hosting and inviting patients, staff, visitors, and guests to the annual Memorial Day Ceremony. The ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 30th in the R.E. Lindsey Jr. Auditorium located in Building 4 at 10:00 a.m. The Keynote Speaker for this year’s ceremony will be Eric Kendle, M.D., Assistant Chief of Surgery for SAVAHCS, and also a Colonel assigned to the Joint Force Headquarters Arizona, of the Air National Guard. Dr. Kendle has had two previous assignments in Operation Iraqi Freedom. (05/29/2013)

VA UNDER SECRETARY TO PRESENT THE ROBERT W. CAREY TROPHY AWARD FOR PERFORMANCE EXCELLENCE TO SAVAHCS - Tucson, AZ – On Thursday, May 16, the VA Under Secretary for Health Robert A. Petzel, M.D. will be presenting to the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System Director the prestigious 2012 Robert W. Carey Performance Excellence trophy award. The ceremony will take place at the medical center Rose Garden at 3601 South Sixth Avenue, the public is invited to attend. (05/08/2013)

BRING YOUR CHILD TO WORK DAY - Tucson, AZ – The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) will be hosting a “Bring You Child to Work Day” on Friday, April 26, 2013. This day will afford an opportunity to show the children 12 years and older of VA Medical Center employees what job responsibilities their parents do on a daily basis. (04/19/2013)

SAVAHCS OFFERS E-DONATE TO SUPPORT LOCAL VETERANS - Tucson, AZ – The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) announced the availability of E-Donate, an online donation option at www.tucson.va.gov that will provide community members who wish to give back to Veterans at the medical center a simple and safe way to pledge their support to the patient programs of their choice. EX-POW RECOGNITION DAY - The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) invites the public, staff, and media to learn more about a special group of Veterans – America’s former prisoners of war (EX-POW’s). The EX-POW’s will be presenting the “EX-POW Recognition Day” on Tuesday – April 9, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., in the Patio Conference Room of Building Four. This program is free of charge and open to the public. (03/28/2013)

ANNUAL FOUR CHAPLAIN MEMORIAL SERVICE - Tucson, AZ – The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) is pleased to announce that they will be again participating in the City of Tucson, Veterans’ Affairs Committee (VAC) annual Four Chaplains Memorial Service, scheduled for Sunday – February 3, 2013 at 1:00 p.m., at the Kino Veterans Memorial Park, 2805 E. Ajo Way. This park is located across from the Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium. (01/31/2013)

12TH ANNUAL CREATIVE ARTS COMPETITION - Tucson, AZ – The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) will be holding the 12th Annual VA Creative Arts Competition on February 5, 2013 in the R.E. Lindsey Jr. Auditorium. The competition will be divided into five divisions; Art, Music, Dance, Drama, and Creative Writing. (01/31/2013)

NATIONAL SALUTE TO VETERANS - The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) and the Tucson Community will be celebrating the 35th Annual “National Salute to Veterans” on February 12, 2013. The all day program will be celebrated in two shifts. The first shift will commence at 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with the second shift starting at 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (01/31/2013)
