Disruption in Service for Some Veterans with Transportation Ne

May 19, 2017

TUCSON, AZ – The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) is experiencing some disruption in transportation services for Beneficiary Travel eligible Veterans with medical appointments at the Tucson VA.

The transportation contractor for SAVAHCS transports approximately 200 Veterans each day, and the disruption of services will affect most Beneficiary Travel eligible Veterans ability to make it to their medical appointments at the VA. Veterans with the most urgent health care needs will be prioritized for transportation during this time. We will also work with all Veterans affected by the disruption of transportation services in rescheduling missed appointments.

SAVAHCS strongly encourages our Veterans to use alternate forms of transportation to help us better serve those with the most urgent transportation needs.  Beneficiary Travel reimbursement is available to eligible Veterans who make their own arrangements for transport to and from medical appointments.

SAVAHCS would like to thank all Beneficiary Travel eligible Veterans for their patience and understanding as we work to resolve the disruption of services.  Veterans with transportation questions may call the SAVAHCS Beneficiary Travel Office at (520) 792-1450 x 4626.

For media inquiries, please contact the SAVAHCS Public Affairs office at (520) 629-1819.
