SAVAHCS Seeks Volunteer Drivers to transport Veterans to Tucson VA April 2016

TUCSON, AZ – Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) is seeking volunteer drivers from Yuma and Casa Grande, Arizona to transport Veterans to VA medical appointments in Tucson, AZ. Positions in Tucson and Sierra Vista are currently filled.

SAVAHCS is looking for dedicated volunteer drivers year round, who have flexible schedules, good driving records and can commit to volunteering for a minimum of one year. Volunteer drivers are required to pass a physical provided by the Tucson VA Medical Center.

SAVAHCS staff will provide all required training as well as the vehicles used for transportation. All volunteer drivers that work a minimum of four hours are eligible for a free meal at the Tucson VA dining facility.

Ideal candidates should be flexible, dependable, follow instructions and love serving Veterans. Volunteer drivers do not have to be Veterans or belong to a particular organization.

Last year, volunteer drivers donated more than 10,400 hours transporting 4,246 Veterans throughout southern Arizona to medical appointments at the Tucson VA Medical Center.
