Southern Arizona VA Health Care System
Tucson VA to Host Recovery Fair
February 27, 2017
TUCSON, AZ – The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) will be hosting a recovery fair entitled “Life Worth Living” at the Tucson VA Medical Center on Thursday, March 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the R.E. Lindsey Jr. Auditorium located at 3601 South 6th Ave. Tucson, AZ.
The recovery fair will focus on the role that Peer Support Specialists play in the VA and also in the Tucson community in engaging Veterans with their medical, mental health, housing and employment needs. The fair will have guest speakers, informational tables, a discussion panel and a Yoga/Mindfulness presentation.
The fair is open to all Veterans and their families, Veteran service organizations, and community support agencies wanting to learn more about the role of Peer Support Specialists at the Tucson VA.
The VA has always recognized the value and importance of Veterans being able to see recovery taking place and have fellow Veterans help them navigate the VA system. Peer Support Specialists share their experiences and knowledge with fellow Veterans as they make the transition into civilian life. They also help Veterans reintegrate into civilian life more successfully by offering the right tools, resources, and necessary support.
