Tucson VA experiencing higher than normal Emergency Department (ED) visits - The Tucson VA, like many other hospitals in southern Arizona, is experiencing a high volume of Veterans experiencing flu like symptoms in the Emergency Department (ED). According to the most recent update from the Arizona Department of Health Services, the flu outbreak in the state of Arizona is a staggering 888 percent higher than a typical flu season, and it has affected all hospitals within Arizona. Tucson VA Receives Latest Legionella Test Results October 25, 2016 - The Tucson VA’s latest Legionella testing indicated positive presence of Legionella in two inpatient rooms in Building 38 Ward 3 East. As a precaution, Tucson VA leadership will temporarily close the Building 38 Ward 3 East to take immediate remediation steps, which includes hyperchlorinating the water distribution pipes and re-testing the rooms until there is confirmation that water samples are negative for Legionella. Tucson VA Latest Legionella Test 1st Quarter 2016 - The Tucson VA’s main campus conducts quarterly Legionella tests by drawing water samples, which includes both the hot and the cold water distribution system from inpatient hospital areas.
