Gastroenterology (GI) Service

Welcome to the Gastroenterology Medicine Service at the Southern Arizona Veterans Health Care System. Our Service is made up of physicians, advanced practice nurses, registered nurses, medical instrument technicians, and administrative staff. It is a privilege for us to provide the nation’s Veterans with the most current and up to date practices in the field of gastroenterology.

What We Do

Gastroenterology is a medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, liver and biliary system. Our staff physicians are able to provide a wide range of diagnosis and treatment options including:

  • Gastrointestinal disorders and diseases
  • Pancreas and biliary diseases
  • Irritable bowel syndrome and diseases
  • Hepatology services and liver diseases

Outpatient Services

A consult from your primary care physician is required to schedule either a clinic or procedure appointment.

Southern Arizona Division:

All GI procedure or GI clinic appointments are held at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System- Tucson Campus.

To schedule an appointment for a GI Endoscopy procedure, please call between 7:30am and 4:30pm at 520-792-1450 extension 4747. GI Endoscopy procedures take place in the Special Procedures Unit in building 50 on the 3rd floor.

To schedule an appointment for the GI clinic, please, call between 7:30am and 4:00pm at 520-792-1450 extension 2051. GI clinic appointments take place in the Medical Subspecialty Clinic in building 80 on the 2nd floor.

When the appointment is scheduled for you, the date, time and location site is written on the reminder postcard that is sent to your mailing address.
